X Shuttles

Getting to Locarno

  • By train: Travel to Locarno station. For timetables and tickets, visit sbb.ch or use this (very good) app.
  • By plane: Arrival via Geneva, Zurich, or Basel airports. Direct trains connect with Locarno at least once an hour from Zurich and Basel. For train time tables and tickets, visit sbb.ch.
  • By car: If you plan to use the highway, remember to purchase the national yearly vignette at the border (40 CHF).

Getting to Monte Verità

  • Shuttle Bus:
The shuttle bus stops next to the end of platform 4 (close to where public transport is leaving). Look for the white bus with the Monte Verità logo.

Time table for the shuttle busses follows soon.

  • Public bus

Take bus no. 1 from Locarno railway station to the bus stop “Ascona Centro” (duration: 15 - 20 minutes).
Please refer to the corresponding timetables.

Please note that the timetables of bus line no. 1 are different for Monday - Saturday (Lunedì - Sabato e feriali) and for Sundays and holidays (Domenica e festivi).

From the bus stop “Ascona Centro” you can also reach Monte Verità in 25 - 30 minutes on foot (follow the “Strada Collina”) or by taxi located next to the Autosilo Ascona.

  • Taxi

Various taxis are available at Locarno railway station. The company “EcoTaxsi” usually has a slightly lower price, reservation required: +41 91 792 21 01 or 0800 321 321 (free call from Swiss numbers). The ride takes about 15 minutes and costs about CHF 40.00.

Giving Your Talk

If you were asked beforehand to hold an impulse presentation, this should not exceed 15 minutes, followed by a moderated open discussion. We encourage a constructive and inclusive attitude during this time. You can send your presentation at least 2 days in advance to Addrich Mauch (addrich.mauch@unibe.ch) or just bring your own computer.

Accommodation and Catering on the Monte Verità

  • Accomondation, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and coffee breaks are included for all invited guests from Sunday evening Sept. 27 to Wednesday morning Sept. 30 (breakfast).
  • Additional individual beverages at meals might be charged. We will inform you when something is not included.

Visit Locarno and Ascona

  • We like to encourage you to plan some extra time before arrival or departure to visit Locarno and/or Ascona individually since there will be no time during the conference to do so.

Electric Plugs

Something that gets often forgotten:

  • The voltage in Switzerland, as in most of Europe, is 230V/50 Hz.
Switzerland uses type C (2-pin) and Type J (3-pin) plugs. (Type C 2-pin plugs also fit J sockets.)

Source: https://world-power-plugs.com/switzerland

Most power sockets are designed for three pin round plugs. The standard continental type plug with two round pins, applied for many electrical travel products, may be used without problem. We can provide some adapters and more should be available by the hotel.
