In this session

  • Information on the programmes: MA Major, MA Minor, and the doctoral track
  • Introductions — who is in the room and what they bring
  • Individual consultations

The programmes

What the Major, the Minor and the doctoral track actually require: modules, credits, deadlines, who to ask about what, and how the Lab and the Intro fit into them.

Introductions

Everyone introduces themselves briefly. Come with an answer to one of these — whichever fits your situation:

NoteIf you are here for the Minor
  • What interests me about DH?
  • In which direction can I imagine a project (Projektarbeit)?
NoteIf you are here for the Major
  • Which discipline do I come from?
  • Which direction is my focus?
  • Which institutions or projects appeal to me, and could be candidates for an MA thesis?

Think about this before the session. It is the starting point of the individual consultations, and for many people it turns into the topic of the Lab assignment.

Individual consultations

Slots are arranged in the session. Bring your study plan and any open questions about recognition of credits, thesis topics or supervision.

Practical matters

  • Bring your own laptop from Session 2 onwards
  • Set up Zotero (this week) and GitHub (next week) — announced in the Intro
